Hello from Barbour County! School is almost out, spring is in the air, and yard sale signs are popping up all over.
There will be a yard sale at Calvary Baptist Church on Rt. 92 in Belington on May 3 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. This is to benefit the Strutters Baton & Dance Team.
There will be a tire collection at the Barbour County Fairgrounds on May 6 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. You must show your valid WV identification to participate. A limit of 10 tires from cars and light trucks only will be accepted. This can be a great time to clean out your yard and/or garage.
There will be an auction and benefit dinner at the Belington Fire Hall on May 9 at 4 p.m. This dinner includes grilled chicken, beans, coleslaw, dinner roll, pie and a drink. Carry outs will be available. There will be a charge for adults and a lesser charge for children. All proceeds benefit a local Amish school.
The Philippi City Yard Sale will be held on May 10. This was rescheduled due to the weather. Spaces are available on the court house lawn. Come out shopping and find some treasures. For more information, contact Angela at 304-613-3977.
There will be a Homeschool Skate Day on May 13 from 1-3 pm at Skatezone in Belington. There is a charge for admission and a separate charge for skate rental.
There will be a Ladies Clothing Giveaway at the Golden Rule Building in Belington on May 13 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This is sponsored by the Barbour County Family Support Center. For more information, contact 304-606-8087.
Barbour County is looking for a Rodeo Queen. There will be a Miss Rodeo competition at Battler's Knob on May 18 at 3 p.m. This is open to girls up to 14 years of age. The deadline to enter is May 13. For more information contact 304-692-8200.
There will be a Flea Market at Battler's Knob on May 17 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Come on out and go shopping for some fleas… I mean… some good sales. One man's trash can be another's treasure.
