Fall season is definitely in the air in Barbour County

Hello from Barbour County!

Fall is definitely in the air. The Forest Festival is almost upon us, and that is something to celebrate across the area.

Old Fashioned Days will take place in Belington, today, Sept. 20. Beginning at 9 a.m, the day will be action packed with fun including: a car show, tractor show, pie eating contest, pet show, duck race, apple butter making, saw mill demonstration, food, music, a cake walk, and more.

Fall Fire Season begins Oct. 1 and runs through Dec. 31. During these times, outdoor burning is prohibited between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The 36th Annual Blue and Gray Reunion Car Show will take place on Oct. 5 at the Court House square in Philippi.

This will be open to any year, make, model and style of vehicle. Registration begins at 10 am.

There is a fee to take part, and all proceeds will benefit Philippi Volunteer Fire Department. For more information, contact Jed at 304-677-0196.

There will be a Barktober Fest on Oct. 11 at 17 North in Philippi to benefit Animal Friends of Barbour County. Come out to support a good cause and enjoy an evening of food and music. Music begins at 6 p.m.

The annual Mikey Hart Memorial Scholarship Purse Bingo will take place on Oct. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Junior Fire Department. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Bingo packets are available at the door.

Also on Oct. 12, there will be a suicide awareness walk at the Barbour County courthouse. Registration begins at 1 p.m. Come by to walk “out of the darkness” to help this cause.

Flannel Fest is scheduled to take place in Philippi on Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. There will be music, a chain saw artist, corn hole, vendors, a beard and mustache contest, pumpkin carving contest and much more!

There will be a Holiday Bingo Bash on Oct. 19 at the Belington Fire Department to benefit Strutters Baton Group. Doors open at 1 p.m., with games starting at 2 p.m. Activities will include a Chinese auction, pull tabs, food and bingo games.

Looking ahead, the annual Trick or Treat event at the Barbour County Fairgrounds will once again take place on Oct. 28 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Over 50 local businesses and organizations will be participating and passing out treats. This event seems to get bigger and better every year. Come out and join in the fun.
