Award Honors Our Entire Community
Last weekend, The Inter-Mountain was named the Newspaper of the Year during the 2024 West Virginia Press Association Convention Awards Banquet in Charleston.
This is a great honor for this newspaper, but the award also honors the entire local community, for The Inter-Mountain represents, and mirrors, the residents in the community it serves.
The award serves as a thank you to all the service clubs, non-profit entities, church groups and parents organizations who submit photos and information for publication in this newspaper, and who invite us to come and cover their events.
It also honors the cooperation of the law enforcement officials, fire department members and emergency workers who allow their (often life-saving) efforts to be shared with the public.
The award also acknowledges the help given this newspaper by government officials, school representatives, healthcare leaders and court officials across our region, so that local residents can be informed.
It also recognizes the many teachers, coaches and school volunteers who go out of their way to help publicize the accomplishments of students in our region, whether in the classroom, on the athletic fields or in statewide, and even nationwide, competitions.
The Inter-Mountain staff has long been committed to providing great coverage of our local community, and we greatly appreciate all the assistance we are given by so many of the residents of this area.
This is a wonderful region of the country, and we are very proud to represent it.
