Applause to the 2025 Beverly Fireman’s Festival Parade, the climax of the weeklong festival. The parade featured the legendary West Virginia Highlanders, as well as performances by local twirlette and dance groups, and, of course, local fire departments were well-represented in the parade with their trucks. .

Applause to the Infinity Baton and Dance Team, which recently competed at the NBTA National Competition in South Bend, Indiana, as part of the prestigious America’s Youth on Parade (AYOP) event, one of the largest baton twirling competitions in the world, officials said. The team delivered an outstanding performance, earning multiple awards, including one top 10 placement and two top three finishes. Additionally, one team member achieved first place in three individual events, showcasing remarkable talent and dedication.

Applause to the Tucker County Community Foundation’s 35th annual Uncle Sam’s Birthday Party, where attendees took home a host of goodies, including a grand prize of $10,000 for one lucky winner of the elimination drawing, Amanda Simmons. The event, which took place July 4 at the Bear Paw Lodge in Canaan, featured an elimination raffle, a plated dinner and door prizes. The party is offered annually to help fund the Tucker Community Foundation’s scholarships and grants programs, which has distributed more than $1.3 million in grants and more than 45 scholarships to students in the region.

Applause to the annual Augusta Festival and Craft Show in Elkins City Park last weekend. The event featured kids activities by the Interact Children’s Museum, and the Mountain Weavers Guild was on hand allowing visitors to see how their items are created. The celebration also featured crafts vendors, musicians and storytellers offering entertainment in the park.
