As we enter September, we are in the twilight of our area’s annual county fairs schedule. Each year, local residents can enjoy, in successive weeks, the Randolph County Fair, the Tucker County Fair and the Barbour County Fair.
Even with the rain that often pelted our area this summer, a lot of good times were had at our local county fairs. Youngsters had their moment in the spotlight with the talent shows, 4-H demonstrations and livestock shows, and each of the fairs offered live music entertainment, carnival rides and, of course, that tempting county fair food.
Dozens of contestants competed as fair queens were once again chosen this summer, as were each queen’s royal courts.
2026 Randolph County Fair Queen Peytan Petrice was crowned along with Randolph County Fair Teen Addison Miley.
2026 Tucker County Fair Queen Isabelle Hauser was presented with roses and her crown, along with Tucker County Fair Teen Norah Jackson and Ms. Tucker County Fair Tressica Brewer.
2026 Barbour County Fair Queen Carlee Foy was cheered as she was crowned, as was Miss Teen Barbour County Acelynn Harris.
Today is the final day of the 2026 Barbour County Fair, with a Tractor/Engine Show this morning, followed by the Livestock Show Awards, Draft Horse Pulls, the 4-H/FFA Market Animal Sale and much, much more. The evening, and the fair, will conclude with musical performances by the Derailers and the Rick K. Rock & Roll Revue.
Taking in the last day of the Barbour County Fair would be a nice bit of entertainment for your Labor Day holiday weekend, and a great way to officially end the summer.
