The 88th Mountain State Forest Festival kicks off this morning, with the MSFF Official Opening Ceremony set for 11 a.m. at the Jennings Randolph Federal Building Plaza in Elkins.
Today’s weather forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-60s. The other MSFF opening day events include the 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Forest Festival Kickoff Party & Chili Cook-Off, which will run from 4-8 p.m. on Davis Avenue, featuring live music by the power ballad tribute band BonJourney.
The annual Bass Fishing Classic will begin with the boat launch at 6 a.m., and the fish weigh-in at 3 p.m. at the Scott Ford Boat Ramp.
A new event, the MSFF Martial Arts Tournament, will begin at 8 a.m. today at Elkins High School. The MSFF Highland Dance Competition will offer two sessions today, with Intermediate, Premier, & Choreography Competitions at 9 a.m. at the Citizens Bank of WV amphitheater at Davis & Elkins College, and the afternoon session featuring Primary, Beginner & Novice Competitions at 1 p.m. at the same location.
The annual Irish Road Bowling event will begin at 1 p.m. on the Georgetown Roads course, and the MSFF Cornhole Tournament will start at 2 p.m. at the Huntington Bank Drive Thru.
All day today on Davis Avenue, beginning at 1 p.m., the Mountain State Street Machines car show will present classic automobiles to dazzle MSFF attendees.
Sunday's list of MSFF activities features the annual Parade of Children, with this year's theme “Paws, Wings, and Autumn Things,” at 2:30 p.m. The lineup for the parade will be at 1:45 p.m. at the corner of 12th Street and South Davis Avenue.
A full week of fun and family friendly events is planned this week for the 2026 Mountain State Forest Festival, including the Coronation Ceremonies for Maid Silvia at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Citizens Bank of WV Amphitheater at Davis & Elkins College.
Another iconic MSFF tradition will roll through town again Saturday, as the 2026 Grand Feature Parade kicks off at 1:30 p.m., featuring marching bands, floats and appearances by state dignitaries.
