Reader’s New Year’s wish is for peace
I don’t pretend to know everything there is to know about Middle East politics. Perhaps our presence in Iraq and Afghanistan is the only thing keeping the Chinese and Russians from taking over the world.
One thing I do know is that the Middle East has been at war with itself since the time of the pharaohs. As soon as American forces pull out they will be right back to killing each other. I think it’s time we pull back and secure our borders and work on perfecting our own society.
If the rest of the world wants to fight, let it. If we are attacked, respond in a way that would deter further attacks.
Donate money and food around the world where it can do some good, but leave military reprisals up to the United Nations.
I would love for the U.S. to become a world leader in conserving nature, inventing alternative fuels and making the world a better place to live. This is my hope for this new decade. (Also, losing 40 pounds would be nice.)
