I would like to share the letter I recently wrote to the Board of Directors of the MSFF hoping that even without the festival as we know it we could enjoy the color of the banners and flags to celebrate the beauty of autumn in our locality.

Cliff, Robbie and MSFF Board of Directors,
As a past coordinator, administrator and assistant director of the MSFF, my love for this old, cherished festival is still strong and my concern for our city remains a passion for me.
I am sending this letter suggesting and asking that the MSFF consider getting volunteers to put up flags and banners, while encouraging residents to display their personal flags during the week that the Festival usually occurs.
I compliment the volunteers who are going forward, with permission of the health department, to hold the scarecrow event. I believe these events are important to our town and morale of our citizens. That event is to occur from Oct. 10 until Oct. 24. Perhaps the MSSF could extend their display during those dates.
An article in the newspaper could explain to the public that, even though the MSFF will not be held this year, the fall decorations would recognize the most important public relations event held in Elkins each year and celebrate the fall beauty of our mountain valley. The surrounding media should be alerted, likewise, that the town of Elkins is doing its best to maintain a positive spirit for its residents and visitors.
