Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor pandemic will stop the deliveries of Meals on Wheels of Randolph County. This was jokingly said at a recent board meeting, but it has definitely proven true over the last several months.
Every Monday through Friday (including any holiday which falls on a weekday), volunteers gather at Davis Medical Center at 9:30 a.m. to load up their cars for meal delivery, and are all finished by noon. There are three routes in and around the City of Elkins serving approximately 80 clients per day.
The satisfaction of delivering a hot meal and doing a wellness check on our elderly and disabled neighbors is a most rewarding experience. We are following the recommendations of our health officials in the delivery of these meals, so as to be safe for the volunteer and safe for the client — all meals are placed in new plastic bags with handles and left on the door or in a container provided by the client.
Meals on Wheels of Randolph County is volunteer based, and without enough volunteers we cannot meet the needs of our community Many of our clients rely on this service for a hot meal every day. In these unusual times M.O.W of Randolph County has kept going, but we are in desperate need of volunteers to deliver meals. We need those who can volunteer as a driver and also those who would carry the meals to the doors.
If you are interested in being a volunteer, please contact the office at 304-636-4919. The amount of time you commit is up to you. Some volunteers serve (as an example) every Monday or Thursday, some a few times a month, and others fill in when needed. Give us a call! It is tremendously satisfying!
