Veterans Memorial supporters appreciated
With such an abnormal year that 2020 has been I would like to recognize those individuals and business that stepped up even more this year to do what had to be done to support the All Veterans Memorial in Elkins.
To maintain social distancing, our veteran organizations (H. W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion; Crow Detachment, Marine Corps League; Chapter 812, Vietnam Veterans of America; Roaring Creek Post 5583, VFW Coalton; and Tygarts Valley Post 3647, VFW, Elkins) put on the Memorial Day, POW/MIA Day and Veterans Day ceremonies virtually with the local TV station, WETV-3, recording and telecasting these.
Along with those organizations we would like to recognize Highland Adventist School, Ed and Elaine Griesel and Shop ‘n Save for their continual support. Thanks to you all. Hopefully we will be able to return to in-person ceremonies in 2021.
Once again, we can’t thank Larry Gouer and Terra Flora Landscaping enough for their work and support throughout the year. This year being what it was, we had almost half of the shrubs at the Memorial get a blight and were dying. They replaced them for us, which we can’t afford. Thank you so much. They look great.
This year Mike Elsa and Mountain Hospice brought a new and spectacular array of lights to the Memorial’s new scrubs. The Memorial is a focus point coming into the community and this display really sets it off. We are blessed that you do this for us and take care of local veterans in the dignified manner that you do. Thank you.
We have several people that donate time and money to support the All Veterans Memorial, too many to name and some want to keep their anonymity. These included those members of the AVMC. Thank you all.
I hope you all have gotten through the struggles of this year and let’s look toward a better and prosperous new year.
