I would like to comment on a couple things that bother me.
In a real-time interview I heard Sen. Manchin tell Hoppy Kercheval on Friday the 12th that he tried to get included in the infrastructure bill a mileage fee or road use fee for electric cars because they contribute no tax for road maintenance but buyers get huge rebates in the thousands of dollars for buying electric. He said Shumer and Biden objected vehemently and he had to let it go. What? Had to let it go? Is that how it's done in Washington? Is the senator cowering again to intimidation?
We've been alerted by more than one news source that Build Back Better is a different animal. Pay attention if Manchin does what he's saying or does something else. It may be wise to exercise pertinence or at least be sagacious when trying to second guess him given the enthusiastic attitude of the Democrats, bragging they will pass BBB with no Republican help. They will need the Senator for that.
Lastly, The Inter-Mountain ran at least three additional articles about TVHS after we learned of the hullabaloo of the mural and the false threat that prompted police to show up. Sheriff Elbon said all was good and the principal said they had a meeting and everybody loves everybody and all was good, like a Dr. Phil family make-up session. Yeah, right.
Then we learned that the BOE was starting procedures to expel a student, whom everyone knows, for postings he made after school hours on social media about potential threats to his friends. Can someone please tell me what "potential threat" means in this case. There were many threats in the days prior.
I'm disappointed that the Board didn't hire a million dollar lawyer and challenge what came next.
The next article tells of the ACLU charging into town to save this poor boy and his clutch of friends from the BOE and other students who might disagree with the activities of a lifestyle.
Then the last article headline says the ACLU lectures the BOE. No! That was a warning and a true threat. "Watch it people or we'll ruin you. You will continue mollycoddling these students and continue punishing their decriers or we'll make you sorry."
If I actually had it I would have burned a million dollars in cash to be on that board at that meeting. No one will ever give me a tongue lashing like that woman did the others and then walk out of there unchallenged. This is what we've sank to. Stop asking for a minute who's running the White House and ask who's running the school boards.
