Reader: Jan. 6 was not an insurrection

The anniversary of Jan. 6 went about the way one would expect from a political media perspective: Democrats from Joe Biden on down spent the first anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot exposing themselves as cynical frauds. Biden’s and Harris’s remarks were as partisan and divisive as they come.

The biggest prize goes to Kamala Harris, who put the outrage on a par with Pearl Harbor and 9/11. Truly the most historic events in America’s history that saw thousands of Americans murdered.

Biden was nearly as bad, invoking what our country fought for at Lexington and Concord, at Gettysburg and Omaha Beach, Seneca Falls and Selma, Alabama.

The Democrats and lame stream media’s common use of the term “insurrection” to describe the unlawful riot and violence on Jan. 6, 2021 is driving me crazy. What happened was absolutely unacceptable criminal behavior that should be prosecuted, but not an insurrection.

Politics ignited it and the media irresponsibly fueled and continues to fuel the false narrative of an insurrection. The term has been used for the past year for political theater and to further national division.

Democrats irresponsibly took that theater to a whole new level by comparing the criminal violence in the U.S. Capitol to arguably the two most significant attacks against our nation in its history: Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

As a veteran, I’m disgusted by this analogy, as I imagine every family member is who lost loved ones, or have to live with them through the permanent wounds of war suffered during and after any American involvement in a war.

Democrats now tell the story of Jan. 6 with the same reckless determination that for years characterized the ultimately debunked claims that Trump colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election.

Hillary Clinton called Trump “illegitimate” after her 2016 loss while also claiming the Russians helped him steal that election from her. Former President Carter also called Trump illegitimate, as did more than a few in the media.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, not the American people, put Trump in the White House, the Democrats and fake news argued without evidence.

This is not really how ambitious politicians behave and points to perhaps the biggest Jan. 6 worry-porn fallacy, the assumption that a few hundred of the worst Capitol Hill rioters are representative of 75 million Trump voters.

Good day!
