Holy Week luncheons deemed successful

Church Women United of Elkins would like to thank the community for their support of our recent Holy Week lunches.

Through your donations we received $1,130 over the five days of lunches. Thank you for attending, worshipping with Randolph County Coalition of Christian Churches’ ministers, and eating lunch with us.

The money will be used to support local non-profit organizations that we designate at our May Friendship Day celebration on May 6. We have not been able to provide the lunches for the last two years due to the COVID pandemic. However, these same churches continued to provide monetary donations during that time and we were blessed to be able to continue our yearly support to up to 15 organizations.

The churches that provided the meals for our community were Davis Memorial Presbyterian, St. Brendan Catholic, Holy Trinity Lutheran, First United Methodist, Mercy Chapel, Orlena United Methodist, Wayside United Methodist, First Baptist, First Church of Christ, Otterbein United Methodist, Israel United Methodist, Elkins Church of God, Woodford Memorial United Methodist, Elkins Church of the Brethren, Grace Episcopal, Church of Nazarene and Good Shepherd Assembly of God. The CWU board thanks them for the dedicated support to this project each year. We could not do this project without each of them.

The National Church Women United’s motto is “Agree to Differ, Resolve to Love, United to Serve.”

This is our goal as we worked together as Church Women United. May God bless everyone.
