Importance of a daily newspaper

To subscribers and future subscribers of The Inter-Mountain,

I have contemplated this letter for months before writing it. In thinking of the future of our wonderful small city and what the future may hold, our daily newspaper comes to mind. I am concerned whether The Inter-Mountain can remain a daily newspaper.

Watching a telecast of 60 Minutes recently, they spoke of the dwindling small town newspapers and, frankly, the loss of so many papers because of the internet and the large investment companies purchasing their assets and the papers going under.

Again, despite your personal feeling about our paper, we must appreciate getting the local and national news delivered to our door. This paper allows us to voice our opinions on views, just as I am doing now!

When relocating to different cities, I think it is always a consideration whether the town has good medical facilities, educational opportunities, the arts and, yes, a daily paper.

I want to thank the following: Steve Herron, publisher; Brad Johnson, executive editor; Edgar Kelly, reporter; the late Chongo (David Skidmore); all who work in publishing; all clerical staff; Aaron Creek and all the delivery personnel and the many others who are critical in getting our Inter-Mountain written and published.

Please consider all this when thinking about buying advertising and subscribing to The Inter-Mountain.
