I want to tell everyone of a program that would help the community in displaying their patriotism and flying American flags sold by a veteran's organization and made in the USA.
The American Legion has a program called Flag Rewards where residents or businesses can order American flags in different sizes from either American Legion Emblem Sales or AmericanLegionflags.com.
When a member of The American Legion, a local resident, or business, such as schools, banks and even the Post Office, do so and say they will sponsor Elkins Post 29, the Post gets 10 cents for every dollar spent on American flags. The post is then able to purchase American flags from those credits in our name and have them at the Post home for when people or businesses may need to replace their American flag, and while they are at The American Legion to purchase their flag, they can also drop off the flag they are wishing to retire with the retirement box located just outside the main office door.
One may ask themselves why not just buy an American flag at Walmart? Why would they want to purchase from The American Legion? Simple. When you hear "Girl Scouts," you think of their cookies; when you hear "Boy Scouts" you think of their popcorn. We want to make people think of American flags when they hear "The American Legion."
Besides being a Veteran Service Organization, the American Legion is continuing to be a primary community source, and one way this can be done is by supporting your local veterans and purchasing American flags.
The American Legion is a great organization that has done much for the community, state and nation. By participating in Flag Rewards, everyone can help keep the American Legion, a primary community source, and be proud to fly an American flag that was made with pride and will withstand all weathers West By God Virginia can throw at it.
