Reader: Manchin was bamboozled

3 min read

This is one of those rare occasions where I get to say "I told you so" and it feels good. Uncle Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer set Manchin up and he took the bait. Jumped right in with both feet and he didn't come out smelling like a rose. either. I knew Schumer and Biden were lying; it's one of those intuitions that hang on.

Not only did he fail to get his pipeline and drilling easements, Manchin also has no idea where to go now that he's pulled his amendment from the budget bill.

This was his big shot at getting a statue in his home town but Schumer and Bernie Sanders yanked it from him. If you like eggs for breakfast Manchin has a face full.

Can you even imagine the conversation between Manchin and Schumer after the amendment was pulled?

As usual it's the Republicans' fault. Everyone from Biden to Schumer to the beggar on the corner is blaming them.

The snippy White House press secretary Karine Pierre said it's true. How dare they vote against a pipeline amendment to prove the Dems are not God!

Readers, I have never been a tree hugger. I support pipelines but I believe in requiring the contractors, loggers, miners and gas and oil drillers to maintain a reasonable -- key word is reasonable -- plan of environmental conservation that would give the work sites a chance to recover in time.

I've been to mining sites and seen the huge settling tanks and ponds from the wash water and the huge valley fills of slate rock that's separated from coal. This stuff is poisonous to land and streams and absolutely should be regulated by law.

I mean a Congressional law that doesn't get interpreted and manipulated by unqualified people in umpteen other agencies, people who don't know a bat from a mouse or a pine tree from a birch tree. One agency should be able to handle it and report to Congress routinely.

Loggers should plant new trees; miners should maintain leak prevention and drillers should keep their drill sites clean.

This is too simple for the United States. Make it more complicated and add tens of thousands to payrolls. It's become the American way.

Pray that God save us, and please vote for Justice if he runs against Manchin in 2024.
