The foundation of our Republic, a form of government where each citizen has an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives, is compromise.
An outcome where no one gets exactly what they want, but everyone gets something. That is both a benefit and a shortcoming of the system under which Americans have lived for more than two centuries.
Most would agree that our government, despite its flaws, has served the nation well.
Be careful how you answer this question. Do you, as an American citizen, want more government or less?
When you see a kid with a car wash, even if your car is not dirty, do you stop anyway?
To a conservative, it always brings joy to those young faces when you hand over a couple of bucks in exchange for a cleaner car.
It teaches entrepreneurship and the value of work and it's the perfect introduction to the basic concept of how our economy works: voluntary exchange of value between two people (three if you count the watchful eye of mom or dad.)
To a liberal, it's a way to teach kids another lesson. And that lesson is, did they ask the government for permission before doing anything?
It's not enough to have mom or dad watching over the car wash, liberals think the government should have a role, too.
Hey kid, you got a license for that activity? What are you doing with all that dirty water? Do you have the appropriate tax forms? No license, no EPA certification, no IRS approval. You could be in trouble.I wish I were joking but I am not.
When you hear words like "bureaucratic," "inefficient," "intrusive," and even "corrupt," what term comes to mind? In my humble opinion, "big government."
The term "big government" stimulates plenty of images and emotions, and they're generally negative.
Democrats used to run from big government; now they embrace it. Inconvenient but true.
Big government interfered with free enterprise and controlled private and personal freedoms guaranteed by and formalized in the U.S. Constitution's Bill of Rights.
Big government lacks checks and balances on its exercise of power, leading it to represent special interests to the detriment of us, the American citizen.
Americans have good reason to ask whether the government can deliver on the promises it makes.
The federal government desperately needs an overhaul, and Americans need to demand it now.
What lesson do you want to teach that child washing cars?
Good day!
