I attended my first Randolph County Commission meeting (recently). Some of the Randolph County Humane Society volunteers went to support our shelter. After the meeting, we spoke to the commissioners.
Mr. Siler reiterated that his proposal would not be a kill shelter. Then why do we need to spend tax dollars on a duplication of services? His answer is the present shelter refused some animals.
There is an agreement between the shelter and the county to take in a certain number. Conversation and discussion leads to understanding. Why not try it?
I was also accused of twisting his words. My quote in my interview was, "if it is modeled on Mineral County, it will definitely be a kill shelter. "Those are my words. Why mention Mineral County to me three times and use the figure of $125,000?
After hearing that you were making fun of us after the meeting, I don't think I have faith in anything you say.
I hope and pray there is a sit down between all concerned and these problems are put on the table, solutions are talked about, and the right decisions are made for the present and future dogs and cats. That's what reasonable responsible adults do, and I think, at least, most of you are grown-ups.
