Another successful recycling event held

The Randolph County Solid Waste Authority held their annual tire recycling event this past Saturday, April 22. At day’s end, a total of around 5,500, or five tractor trailer loads of tires, were collected.

What does that mean? That means that there are 5,500 tires that will not be found in the bottom of a river or on the side of a mountain. For those that brought tires in, we thank you.

We would also like to thank the following businesses and people that made this possible. Aaron Miller of the REAP for lining up the help; to Tim Senic and Roger Roy of Roy’s Travel Trailers for the use of their lot, without it, we couldn’t have pulled it off; Dorothy M. Lambka, LLC of Mt. Storm for their hired hands in loading and unloading of the tires; Tomar Trucking, Inc. of Keyser, for getting the tires to the recycling plant; to Weston Tire Recycling for working on Saturday to receive the tires; and to Mel, John and Melissa of WVRC for the live broadcast to help bring the people in.

And again, I thank you folks for braving the elements (rain), and bringing the tires. Another event is coming soon. Be sure to check out our website at www.rcsolidwaste.com for our next recycling event.
