Randolph County and surrounding areas! It's once again that time of year when the American Legion Post 29 of Elkins performs its duty of the "Dignified Retirement and Disposal" of old and unserviceable flags.
We have a drop box at the post, to the left of the front doors for that purpose. It is acceptable 24/7 for your convenience. Flag Day this year is June 14.
We will retire the flags on the 17th. It is a Saturday, so that if you wish, you may attend the ceremony.
The ceremony starts at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend, and if you choose, you may confine your flag to the quenching and cleansing flames yourself.
This is the only method of proper and dignified disposal of our flag.
So please feel free to join us at Little Arlington Cemetery in Cravensdale on June 17, a little before 6 p.m.
For questions, you may call the post home at 304-636-3930 Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., or Americanism Officer Donnie Lambert at 304-621-0483, or Adjutant Mike Cardinal at 304-614-6338.
Thank you and have a blessed day.
Mike Cardinal
Adjutant
