When does the end justify the means? A question that has been asked for hundreds of years, with rarely correct answers.
Do you say it's OK to lie during an election cycle, whether you're running for City Council or President of the United States? Do you say it's OK to deliver a blow to your opponent's record or to overstate your own?
The line between outright lying and inflation of the truth is thin, and with so much at stake, it's no surprise that the "end justifies the means" thinking rears its ugly head.
When I was young it was easy to think that the end justifies the means. If I wanted a cookie, I just took it. The end justifies the means because I wanted a cookie and I got one.
As I got older, I began to realize that in order to be a member of my community, I needed to consider other people's feelings. I realized that it's not socially acceptable to take what I wanted, when I wanted it, and that in fact I needed to recognize that sometimes the ends don't justify the means.
While socialist Democrats consider themselves to be a people of character, how can they reconcile this belief? That the end justifies the means, that, when it comes down to it, they believe they must do whatever they can in order to get the results they believe, ultimately bringing about what they want, even if other people may get hurt along the way.
Going along with a false narrative: Whether you created the narrative or it was crafted for you, going along with a narrative that you know to be false may justify the means of helping you achieve hero status, but it will gnaw away at you over time.
Whether you agree or disagree, the "end justifies the means" thinking will drive human nature, for better or worse. Socialist Democrats have truly lost their way. They continue to suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. The most destructive of ideas is that "extraordinary times justify extraordinary measures."
The ends don't justify the means. It is no good to win the culture war and lose our own souls, which is exactly what we are risking.
History may judge us all fools, and it may judge some on one side as morally better than the others. But history isn't the ultimate judge. God is. All leaders are temporary officeholders. It might be six months, a year, four years, or perhaps many years, but eventually all leaders get replaced.
So, the big question is: do voters care if socialist Democrats lie? Do you agree or disagree that the end justifies the means? Are you proud of what you have achieved? Now answer this, are you proud of how you achieved it? Good Day!
