Dogwalker disgusted by filth left behind

One of the highlights of my retirement has been a daily walk with my neighbor’s dog, Nevaeh. The walks started well over a decade ago and I quickly learned to carry small plastic bags to collect her “tootsie rolls” so as not to leave them in someone’s yard.

Our walks stopped over the Christmas and New Year holidays but they resumed recently for a couple of days, which brings me to the point of this letter.

I went to her house, checked the plastic bags, hooked her up and proceeded to let her choose her route for the day. She started walking me up Silvester toward Robin Hood Lane. I reiterate, this is the first time in over three weeks that we had traveled this route. Needless to say, I was appalled by what I saw. Pile after pile of dog feces, I’m talking Johnsonville Bratwurst size, in yards and even on the pavement. So this is a large dog, or dogs, that are doing this!

I know, if not by name, by sight the majority of dogwalkers in this neighborhood and, I can assure you, it isn’t any of them. They are very expedient when it comes to “picking up” after their dog!

I walk daily in different parts of the city and I have never seen such an amount of filth that has accumulated down Blaine, along both sides of Alexander and Silvester Drive and up Robin Hood Lane. I have talked to some of the dogwalkers and they seem to have a pretty good idea who is responsible. But, I talked to city officials, and was told the only way this lowlife ingrate can be fined is if the perpetrator is caught in the act. So if anybody in this area sees or knows who is responsible and see it happening, take a picture or video and contact me.

The dog feces left on the pavement also presents a health hazard to the walkers, joggers and other dog walkers who could step in and carry this crap back to their homes.

In conclusion, to address the lazy, arrogant, discourteous, despicable, poor excuse of a human being who thinks you have the right to allow your dog (or dogs) to defecate in other people’s yards and make no effort to bag and properly dispose of it, the next time your dog has to “paws” for the cause, smile, you may be on candid camera. Bazinga!!
