Student nominated for statewide award

A student attending Davis & Elkins College, Hannah Phillips, an Elementary Education and Special Education major, has been nominated by the West Virginia Reading Association for the Outstanding Future Teacher Award.

This award recognizes a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a Teacher Education program at a college or university who demonstrates potential and promising qualities as a preservice teacher.

This student is making notable progress toward becoming a skilled educator who understands the importance of effective literacy instruction, is dedicated to continuous learning, and aims to foster a passion for reading in their students.

Each of the nominees for this award has been nominated by a university professor and also had at least five references from individuals that know of their exceptional work.

In addition, nominees had to complete a rather lengthy application to be considered for this honor.

All nominees for the Outstanding Future Educator award will be recognized at the annual West Virginia Reading Association conference at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling.

The winner of this award and others will be announced later.

Receiving this nomination is the result of dedication to her scholastic work in the field of literacy, and Hannah needs to be recognized for her hard work.
