Harman leader stepping away

Dear Members of the Harman community,

It is with a full and grateful heart that I write to formally step down from my role as an advisor and advocate for Harman School and its future educational pathways.

Serving in this capacity has been deeply meaningful to me. Harman is more than a place, it is a community defined by resilience, care, and an unwavering commitment to its children. I have been honored to contribute, even in a small way, to conversations about how we can best support the next generation and strengthen opportunities for students and families here.

This decision has not come lightly. As discussions about the future of education in Harman have evolved, it has become clear that there are differing perspectives on the structure and direction needed to take the community to its next chapter. While I respect these viewpoints and the intentions behind them, I believe it is important–for the sake of clarity and forward progress–that leadership and advocacy remain aligned in vision and approach. Out of respect for the work ahead, and for those continuing to lead these efforts, I feel it is the right time for me to step aside.

Please know that my belief in Harman, its students, and its potential remains unchanged. I will always care deeply about the outcomes for this community and will continue to support its success in whatever ways are appropriate moving forward.

While I am stepping away from this role, my commitment to improving educational outcomes for our students remains strong. Through this work, it has become increasingly clear that there are significant needs across multiple areas of our educational system. I will continue to work with our government partners and broader stakeholders to advocate for meaningful improvements and expanded support for all students, using the insight we have gained to help inform and drive those efforts forward.

Thank you for the trust, collaboration, and shared purpose during my time in this role. It has truly been a privilege.

With sincere appreciation and respect,

Phil Perrine
