Honorable governor, ladies, gentlemen, West Virginia has been exploited since its beginning. Beginning with the coal mining and timber harvesting moguls of the 20th Century. Why stop now?
I will not quote the many resources that list the dangers of Ultra High KV transmission lines. Both sides of the argument have their evidence or lack of it. The age-old question is, "Would you live under or nearby such a transmission line?" It does boil down to a simple country wisdom, doesn’t it? I think I know your answer!
If it is to be forced down our throats, I would choose the most northerly route, or the most eastern route along the Barbour/Randolph County line. Either one would have the least amount of human disruption but would probably be the most expensive to build. Once again, I think I know your answer!
A note for the Honorable Patrick Morrisey, governor of West Virginia: A simpler solution, for a project of this magnitude, I suggest removing the decision from the West Virginia Public Service Commission and offering it as a referendum to counties to be affected, to be decided by public vote in the proper election timetable! However, I think I may already know the answer to that one as well.
I do have a final question: Will the state of West Virginia receive monetary compensation for allowing the line to traverse the state?
Mr. Morrisey, for the sake of your citizens, please do not sell West Virginia out once again.
