PHILIPPI -- Top-seed Philip Barbour dispatched South Harrison with a 14-0 outcome in a Class AA-A Region II, Section 2 semifinal contest on George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park on Tuesday night.
The Colts (15-3-1) will host the winner of today's match in Weston between Elkins and Lewis County at 6 p.m. Thursday in the title game.
The Tigers were slated to visit the Minutemen on Tuesday, but poor field conditions moved the game back a day.
PB posted a 7-0 win at EHS last week before edging the Minutemen 1-0 last Thursday at home on senior night.
The Colts began denting the scoreboard early and often on Tuesday as an Ethan Gregory assist to Trenton Whited just 3 minutes in provided the winning goal. Insurance scores began to mount when Gregory found Caleb Shipley for a 2-0 lead a minute later.
Grant Dadisman tapped a corner kick to Gregory who dribbled in for a right footed finish in the right corner.
Using a corner-kick opportunity again midway through the first half, Carson Cvechko connected with an assist to Whited to swell the lead out to 4-0.
Philip Barbour reserves Camlin Teets and Jacob Davies combined on the next goal by the hosts. Shipley had a shot deflected by the Hawks' keeper before Ammon Davies cleaned up the rebound. Jacob Davies capped the first-half scoring to give PB a 7-0 cushion at intermission.
Shipley and Whited went on to record hat tricks in the second half. Noah Ward also scored for the Colts late in the game.
Biding time on the quieter end of the field, PB keeper Cody Cooper kept a clean sheet with a pair of saves.
South Harrison senior keeper Kasen Hurst was under constant fire all game long as the Colts launched 33 shots on goal. Hurst stayed good spirited and booted several nice punts, along with collecting 19 saves at the Colts' Corral.
