Lady Bobcats drop road tilt to Concord in league encounter
ELKINS — The Davis & Elkins College women’s soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory over Glenville State Sunday in Mountain East Conference action at Nuttall Field.
The Lady Senators (6-4-2, 5-3-1 MEC) found the back of the net three times in the first half and never looked back.
Davis & Elkins’ first goal came 10:55 into the match when Raquel Lewis scored off an assist from Asheli Freed.
Samantha Cozzolino then gave the Lady Senators a 2-0 lead when she headed in a corner kick from Maria Cabal at the 38:37 mark.
Four minutes later, Davis & Elkins extend the lead and capped off the scoring in the first half when Hope Osborn knocked in a long shot off an assist from Jennifer Panergo.
The Lady Senators added an insurance goal 5 minutes into the second half as Madeline Stevenson made it 4-0 when she scored off a pass from Angelina Horan.
Davis & Elkins, which held a 9-4 advantage in shots of goal for the contest and a 6-0 edge in corner kicks, will return to action Wednesday at Concord.
The Lady Pioneers (2-10, 0-8) will visit West Virginia Wesleyan the same day.

ATHENS — Concord handed West Virginia Wesleyan a 2-0 MEC setback on Sunday.
Mira Kontio and Yasmin Mosby tallied second-half goals for the Lady Mountain Lions (11-1-0, 7-1-0 MEC).
The Lady Bobcats (5-7-0, 4-5-0 MEC) will play host to Glenville State at 4 p.m. Wednesday in league play.
