D&E triathlon team preps for nationals trip
ELKINS — The Davis & Elkins College women’s triathlon team will compete in the National Championships at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Tempe, Arizona.
Head coach Chris Hammer’s squad will race along Town Lake Park, with a 750-meter swim, 20k bike, and 5k run through downtown Tempe near the campus of Arizona State University.
Competitors will run around the Tempe Center for the Performing Arts, and their bike race will loop around the Marquee Theatre.

Eleonora Pierre finished fourth in regionals with excellent times in the swim and bike portions. She placed 10th at last year’s National Championships.
Sophie Schoppl placed ninth in last year’s National Championships as the highest finisher for D&E.
Dru Mills returns from last year’s national qualifying time, while Rut Tallon and Abhigna Anand are making their first appearance at the National Championships for the Senators.
