PHILIPPI -- Alderson Broaddus used a late surge to pull away for a 66-61 win over West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday in an inter-conference matchup at Rex Pyles Arena.
The Lady Battlers will enter their holiday break with a 5-6 mark, while the Lady Bobcats are now 3-8.
Trailing 53-51 after three quarters, Wesleyan started the final canto on a 6-0 run on the strength of four points from Nicole Gilyard and a pair of free throws from Cierra Tolbert to take a 57-53 cushion with 7:21 left in regulation.
But Jeana Weatherspoon's layup with 2:01 left made it 62-61 and AB never trailed again.
The Lady Battlers added four free throws inside of 1:05 left to play, including a pair from Daniel Franklin with 14 seconds left to make it a four-point lead at 65-61.
Hannah Henderson had 10 points and 13 rebounds to pace AB, while Madeline Moyer netted 12 points and four assists, Franklin 11 points and four assists and Shay Harper 10 points off the bench.
Gilyard led all scorers in the game with 21 points to go along with nine rebounds for the Lady Bobcats. Brittany Stawovy chipped in 12 points and Tolbert 10 points.
Courtney Wilfong had six assists and Stawovy added four helpers.
AB led 24-17 after one quarter before Wesleyan held a 13-7 scoring edge in the second to trail by just one, at 31-30, at the intermission.
AB will return to action Jan. 2 at G-MAC foe Ohio Valley, while Wesleyan will travel to WVU Tech on Jan. 5.
