AB women pick up win over Salem

BUCKHANNON — Dusan Vicentic fired in 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds as West Virginia Wesleyan claimed a 73-65 win over Urbana Wednesday evening at Rockefeller Center.

The Bobcats improved to 3-7 overall and 3-2 in Mountain East Conference play.

Daylin Lee chipped in with 15 points off the bench for Wesleyan, followed by Clay Todd with 14 points to go along with four assists.

Luka Petrovic finished with nine assists in the victory.

Jordan Bradley’s 20 points paced the Blue Knights (2-7, 1-4). Tehree Horn had 15 and Mario Lacy 13.

The Bobcats will visit Notre Dame College at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Women’s games

Urbana 82, WVWC 80

BUCKHANNON — Syliva Hudson’s putback as time expired lifted Urbana to an 82-80 MEC victory over West Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday at Rockefeller Center.

The Lady Bobcats had tied the game at 80-80 on a 3-pointer by Brittnay Stawovy with 1:02 left in regulation.

Stawovy had a game-high 31 points on the night, including six treys for Wesleyan, which led 25-9 after the first quarter and 66-57 entering the final canto.

Cierra Tolbert added 13 points and Nicole Gilyard 11 for the Lady Bobcats, who dropped to 3-6 and 1-4 in the MEC.

Tyra James led the Lady Blue Knights (6-3, 3-1) with 28 points, followed by Hudson with 20 and Bailey Draughn with 13.

Wesleyan will visit Notre Dame College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

AB 86, Salem 66

PHILIPPI  — Danielle Franklin came off the bench to score 17 points as Alderson Broaddus picked up an 86-66 win over Salem University Wednesday night in non-conference action at Rex Pyles Arena.

Franklin was one of four Lady Battlers to reach double figures as Yolanda Florido had 16, Hannah Henderson 14 and Jeana Weatherspoon 13.

Henderson and Mara Jimenez Montes added six rebounds apiece.

AB (3-5) outscored the Lady Tigers in each of the first three quarters to lead by 19, at 58-39, entering the final canto.

Nerea Fernandez had 18 points, Endia Jones 13 and Alicia Smith 10 for Salem (3-5).

The Lady Battlers will travel to Ursuline College at 5:30 p.m. Saturday for a G-MAC contest.
