PHILIPPI -- Philip Barbour chinned an eighth loss in a row Friday at the Colts' Corral following a 67-62 setback against a 16-5 Braxton County squad in a non-conference double-A matchup.
"We had it tied up late in the game," Colt mentor Marcus Johnson said. "We have been playing spotty. I'm not sure what it is. We need to work on everything, including turning the ball over too much."
The Eagles pushed ahead for a 15-5 lead following a first-canto effort. Philip Barbour fired back with a 22-14 tally in the second quarter to cut Braxton County's lead to 29-27 at the halftime break.
Winning the third, 17-15, the Colts had things even on the scoreboard for a 44-all situation as the fourth frame ensued.
The Eagles came out ahead in a high-scoring last period of regulation, 23-18, to secure the road win.
Josh Watson and Jesiah Matlick paced PB in the scoring column with 14 points each. Watson shot 9 of 14 from the field to go along with nine boards. Matlick hit 4 of 5 from the charity stripe and pulled down seven rebounds.
Maverick Williams with eight points and six rebounds and Will Knight with six points and three assists also chipped in for the hosts.
Philip Barbour (6-15 overall, 4-8 Big 10) is slated to host Big 10 Conference rival Elkins on Monday at 7:30 p.m. for the Colts' regular-season finale.
The Tigers are 4-7 in league play and 9-11 overall after defeating Berkeley Springs by a 58-36 count on Friday night.
