ELKINS -- The Elkins Middle School boy basketball squads split a pair of games against East Fairmont Tuesday night at EMS gymnasium in a battle of Hornets.
The Elkins Middle School Hornets saw their record fall to 10-4 on the season after dropping a 55-30 decision in the varsity contest.
Isaiah Merritt had 10 points and Brock Holland chipped in with eight to lead Elkins.
Blake Hunt tossed in 17 points to pace the visiting Hornets in the win.
In the preliminary junior varsity contest, the host Hornets picked up a 46-29 victory.
Aiden Lambert knocked in nine points to lead Elkins.
Jaxon Drennen and Riley Rider followed with eight points each in a winning effort.
Jayden Dawson paced East Fairmont with nine points.
The EMS junior varsity squad is now 11-1 on the season.
Elkins will return to action Thursday at Randolph County rival Tygarts Valley.
Junior varsity action is set to begin at 5:45 p.m., followed by the varsity contest.
