ELKINS -- The Elkins Middle School girls basketball teams coasted by Taylor County Monday night at EMS gymnasium.
The Lady Hornets (12-3) claimed a 33-20 win in varsity play behind Emerson Haddix and Gracelin Corley with eight points each. Addy Cogar followed with six.
Kambre Delaney's eight points paced the Lady Knights.
"We weren't very sharp protecting the ball tonight and had some good looks roll out," EMS coach Clint Bennett said. "But we had our defense locked in and turned some defense into offense.
"It was a good team win and I'm proud of these girls for finding a way all year."
Maura O'Neill, Emma Gilbert and Mallory Bennett had four points each as the Lady Hornets took a 28-9 win in the JV contest to move to 9-3 on the campaign.
Natalie Kelley led Taylor County with four points.
Elkins will visit East Fairmont today, with JV action getting underway at 6 p.m. and followed by the varsity contest.

GRAFTON -- The Elkins Middle School boys basketball teams swept Taylor County on Monday night.
The Hornets (10-3) took the varsity game, 39-30, as Brock Holland scored 17 and Anthony Anderson chipped in six.
Isaac Lough led the Knights with seven points.
A.J. Friedman had 13 points and Dylan Hinzman netted nine as the EMS junior varsity squad improved to 10-1 with a 40-31 victory.
Kenny Humphries led Taylor County with 12 points.
Elkins was slated to host East Fairmont today but the game is in danger of being canceled due to no referees. The Hornets will then travel to Tygarts Valley on Thursday.
