Lewis gets by Bucs

TENNERTON – Buckhannon-Upshur dropped a 58-57 decision to Lewis County Wednesday evening in Big 10 Conference play.

Will Hunt led the Minuteman (7-15) with 23 points, followed by Asa Post with 17 and Kyle Gannon with 14.

Senior Ryan Strader had 14 points and Josh Loudin added 10 for the Bucs, who finished the regular season 12-10.

Ryan Hurst just missed double figures with nine points, while Lamar Hurst and Harrison Walker added eight each.

B-U was held to no 3-point makes on the night,

Hunt drilled three from beyond the arc for Lewis County, while Gannon added two.

Both teams scored 11 points from the charity stripe on the night, and each squad shot nearly 50% from the floor.

B-U is the third seed in the Class AAA, Region I, Section 2 tournament and will visit second-seed Morgantown at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Defending state champ and top-seed University will host fourth-seed in the other semifinal.

The title game is set for Friday at the highest-remaining seed.

Lewis County, meanwhile, is the third seed in the Class AA, Region II, Section 2 tournament and will play host to sixth-seed Nicholas County at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The winner visits second-seed Clay County on Tuesday.
