FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Davis & Elkins College softball team swept Fayetteville State on Sunday.
The Lady Senators took the lidlifter, 7-2, as Honesty Holt cracked a two-run double and a run-producing single, and Rhetta Persinger a two-run single.
Kristen Millner also stole three bases.
Ryn Boelter earned the win in a complete-game effort on the mound.
D&E completed the sweep with a 13-0 win in five innings in the second game.
Freshman Olivia Smith cracked a grand slam in the first inning for the Lady Senators. She also added an RBI sacrifice fly in the second inning.
Holt and Persinger contributed run-producing singles, and Kirsten Malloy an RBI double.
Holt and Malloy collected three knocks each on the day, while Sydney Carter and Amy Fincham had two hits apiece.
Jenna Evans went all five innings to earn the win, allowing just one hit and fanning seven.
D&E (5-3) will return to the state of Tennessee for the second time this season next Saturday to face Cedarville and Lincoln Memorial.
