SUMMERSVILLE -- Elkins picked up a 62-52 road win over Nicholas County Tuesday night in non-conference action.
The Tigers jumped out to a 17-7 lead after one quarter and led 30-21 at the intermission.
They increased their lead to 13, at 46-33, entering the final frame.
"We really couldn't get any separation from them," Elkins coach Amrit Rayfield said. "We would build a pretty good lead and then they would cut into it.
"There were a lot of fouls called and it was hard to get into any type of rhythm on offense."
A total of 71 free throws were attempted by the two teams -- the Tigers going 22 of 41 from the charity stripe.
"We obviously missed too many free throws," Rayfield said. "But we did what we had to do and you will take a win anytime you can get one this time of the year."
Blake Harris had 14 points and Dre Owens and Peyton Isner 10 apiece for Elkins, which is now 7-11.
Rylee Nicholas had a game-high 17 for the Grizzlies (3-18).
Elkins will return home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to face Tygarts Valley for Alumni Night at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.
All former players and coaches from EHS, Coalton, Beverly or Forest Hills high schools are invited to attend the game for free and will be recognized at halftime.
A hospitality area will be provided from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
