Tigers 12th, Bulldogs fourth in latest ratings
County schools meet Friday night in Mill Creek
ELKINS — Elkins High School moved up three spots in the WVSSAC football playoff ratings released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers (3-2) are 12th this week in Class AA after rallying for a 28-10 win at Grafton on Friday night, erupting for 28 unanswered points in the second half.
Tygarts Valley, meanwhile, is tied for fourth in single-A with St. Marys and Buffalo.
The Bulldogs are 5-0 on the season after cruising past homestanding Richwood, 62-13, last Thursday.
The Randolph County schools will battle this Friday night in Mill Creek in the first-ever meeting between the schools in varsity football action.
Despite playing its first game this past Friday due to COVID protocol, University is No. 1 in Class AAA.
The Hawks defeated Albert Gallatin (Pa.) to begin the season.
Spring Valley (2-0), Hurricane (2-0), Bridgeport (4-0) and Cabell Midland (3-0) round out the top five.
Bluefield (4-0), Frankfort (5-0), Liberty-Raleigh (5-0), Oak Glen (3-1) and Keyser (4-1) comprise the top five in Class AA.
Doddridge County (5-0) is tops in single-A, followed by Tug Valley (2-0) and Greenbrier West (5-0).
Petersburg (3-1) is tied for seventh, East Hardy (3-1) is ninth, Moorefield (2-1) 16th and Pendleton County (2-2) 19th.
The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the playoffs, which are currently scheduled to begin on Nov. 13.
