ELKINS -- A second-half rally fell short as Davis & Elkins dropped an 83-74 decision to Charleston Wednesday night in Mountain East Conference play at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators trailed by as many as 22 points in the second half before cutting the lead to 79-74 on a jumper by Sam Rolle IV with 38 seconds left. But they came no closer as the Golden Eagles (3-2, 3-2 MEC) hit 4 of 4 free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Rolle, who played all 40 minutes, finished with a game-high 24 points to lead D&E.
Marcus Fleming added a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds and Breland Walton contributed 21 points.
Eddie Colbert had 20 points and 11 rebounds for UC, followed by Lamont McManus with 14 points, Keith Williams 13, Seth O'Neal 12 and Shaunn Monroe 10.
D&E (2-3, 2-3) travels to West Virginia State at 2 p.m. Saturday for another league game.
AB 90, Frostburg State 76
PHILIPPI -- David Shriver had 16 points as Alderson Broaddus claimed a 90-76 MEC win over Frostburg State Wednesday night at Rex Pyles Arena.
Shriver was joined in double figures by Lacey Watson (15), KJ Walker (14) and Coryon Rice (13).
Vincent Smalls added a team-best 10 rebounds.
Agyei Edwards had a game-high 27 points for the Bobcats. Jihar Williams added 13.
AB (2-3, 2-3) will be back in action at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Davis & Elkins.
The Battlers' game at Fairmont State slated for Saturday has been postponed as the Falcons have paused play due to MEC COVID-19 protocol.
