Wesleyan, Alderson Broaddus drop MEC road contests
ATHENS — Concord closed out the first half on a 13-2 run and held off West Virginia Wesleyan late in claiming a 73-69 Mountain East Conference win Wednesday night at the Carter Center.
The Mountain Lions (2-1, 2-1 MEC) led by as many as 19 in the second half before the Bobcats (0-3, 0-3) made a late push, finishing the game on a 17-5 run for the final four-point margin.
Concord’s Liam Evans had 22 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Brandon Kennedy scored 13 and Malik Johnson had 12 points and seven assists.
Jaret Mulloly and Jaylin Reid each had 14 points for WVWC. Ross Young had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Charleston 94, AB 82
CHARLESTON — Charleston shot 64 percent in the second half to get past Alderson Broaddus, 94-82, on Wednesday night .
The Golden Eagles (1-2, 1-2 MEC) were led by Lamont McManus with a game-high 24 points.
Seth O’Neal finished with 17 points and six assists. Shunta Wilson contributed 14 points.
The Battlers (1-2, 1-2) were led by Josh Bradford’s 20 points. KJ Walker added 16 points.
