Bulldogs and Pendleton earn sectional wins

Will battle Friday night in title game

MILL CREEK — Tygarts Valley claimed a 73-41 win over Pocahontas County Tuesday night in Class A, Region II, Section 2 tourney play.

The Bulldogs, who have won six straight games to improve to 8-3, will travel to Pendleton County at 7 p.m. Friday in the sectional title game.

Tygarts Valley took control early, racing out to a 19-8 lead after one quarter and building a 43-18 lead at the intermission.

Garrett Gibson had 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win, followed by Ezra Scott with 13 points and Josh Bright with 11.

Jamie Vandevender led the Warriors, who finished the season 1-9, with 13 points.

FRANKLIN — Second-ranked Pendleton County placed three players in double figures to hand Harman a 70-40 setback Tuesday night in Class A, Region II, Section 2 tourney action.

Josh Alt had 15, Bailey Thompson 14 and Braden McClanahan 13 for the Wildcats (13-0).

Coy Teter had 14 for the Panthers, who ended the campaign with a 5-8 record.
