Bulldogs capture 12-1 victory over Trinity

MILL CREEK — Seth Currence tossed a five-inning two-hitter as Tygarts Valley claimed a 12-1 win over Trinity on Wednesday evening.

Currence struck out seven and walked five.

The Bulldogs treated Currence to a 5-0 lead after two innings. They tacked on four in the fourth and three more in the fifth to end the game early due to the mercy rule.

Brandon Mahoney had three hits and three RBIs to lead Tygarts Valley at the plate.

Evan Rice took the loss for Trinity, allowing four runs on one hit and walking five.

The Bulldogs, who had 10 hits in the contest, used bases-loaded walks to Noah Armstrong, Currence and Shaun Taylor and an RBI single by Mahoney to build a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

Matthew Pratt added an RBI single in the second to make it 5-0.

Armstrong tacked on an RBI single in the fourth, while Pratt drew an RBI walk and Mahoney hit a two-run single to end the game in the bottom of the fifth.

The Bulldogs (4-3) return to action at home today against Petersburg.
