Indians pull away from Tigers

BRIDGEPORT — Jack Bifano had 15 points as Bridgeport pulled away in the second half to defeat Elkins, 49-36, Wednesday in Big 10 Conference action.

The Tigers trailed 30-26 at halftime, before cutting the lead to twice in the third quarter.

But Jaden Haywood hit three key 3-pointers in the frame to help the Indians build a 35-25 cushion after three quarters.

“We played well defensively,” EHS coach Amrit Rayfield said. “We just had way too many turnovers in the game.”

BHS led 14-10 after one quarter and each team bucketed 16 points in the second quarter.

Cory Harper led Elkins with 13 points, while Mitchell Price followed with 12 points.

Elkins (5-6) will be back in action Saturday at Lewis County for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The Tigers remain home on Monday to battle Petersburg.

Bridgeport hosts Martinsburg this evening.
