Price nets 27 as Tigers get win at Keyser

Pendleton stays perfect, downs Tucker County

KEYSER — Mitchell Price fired in 27 points as Elkins concluded regular-season play with a 57-53 overtime win over Keyser on Friday night.

The Tigers, now 9-8, will travel to Lincoln at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Class AAA, Region II, Section 2 semifinal action.

Cory Harper added 14 points for Elkins, which trailed 18-11 after one quarter and 30-19 at halftime.

The Golden Tornado led 36-32 after three quarters before the Tigers rallied in the final frame to force overtime.

Price had 19 of his game-high 27 in the second half, including eight in the extra session.

Darrick Broadwater paced Keyser (3-1) with 25. Noah Broadwater added 12 and Vito Amoruso 11.

HAMBLETON –Class A, No. 3 Pendleton County completed the regular season undefeated for the second straight season with a 51-34 win over No. 9 Tucker County on Friday night.

The Wildcats (12-0) were led by Josh Alt with 15 points.

The Mountain Lions (10-5) trailed 15-14 after one quarter and 29-20 at halftime. They were outscored 12-11 in the third and 10-3 in the final canto.

Zack Colebank led Tucker County with 17 points.

The Mountain Lions are the top seed in the Region II, Section 1 tourney and will host the winner of Tuesday’s contest between Union and East Hardy at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Pendleton County is also the top seed in the Region II, Section 2 tourney. The Wildcats entertain Harman at 7 p.m. Tuesday in semifinal play.
