ELKINS -- The Elkins Middle School softball team claimed a 12-9 win over Tygarts Valley on Tuesday.
It was the first win in five years for the Lady Hornets.
Gabi Mahanes scored four times for Elkins in the victory.
Chloe Casey scored three times, Hailey Riffle and Addison Carr twice and Maddison Lambert once.
Riffle earned the win on the mound for the Lady Hornets.
Kailen Yokum went 5 for 5 at the plate with two RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs, while Alyssa Swecker was 4 for 5.
Janie Blackwood took the loss. She struck out five in the contest.
Tygarts Valley will entertain Buckhannon-Upshur at 4 p.m. today.
Elkins, which lost an extra-inning contest to Tucker Valley on Wednesday, is scheduled to entertain Taylor County at 5:30 p.m. today.
The Lady Hornets will remain home next Wednesday at 5 p.m. to face Buckhannon-Upshur.
