Elkins bests Tygart Valley in 11-12 action

ELKINS -- The Elkins Little League 11-12-year-old All-Stars claimed a 19-4 win over Tygart Valley Sunday evening in District 8 tourney play being held at River Bend Park.
Elkins will now face Summersville at 6 p.m. today in a winner's bracket matchup. The winner advances to the championship game set for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
A second title game will be held on Thursday, if necessary.
Only the champion in the 11-12-year-old division moves to the state tournament this season. It will be held in Lewisburg starting on July 15.
Tygart Valley, which defeated Belington, 14-3, on Saturday, will now face the winner of Sunday's late game between Belington and Braxton County at 8:30 p.m. today in an elimination game.
In the 10-12-year-old District 8 tourney, Elkins captured the title with a 15-5 win over Summersville on Saturday.
Summersville also earned a spot in the state tournament, which will be begins July 8 at Shinnston-Fairmont, with a 28-18 victory over Braxton County in the runner-up game on Sunday.
Tygart Valley was eliminated from the tourney on Saturday in a 27-17 setback to Braxton County.
