ELKINS -- Summersville plated four runs in the top of the sixth inning to rally for a 7-5 victory over Elkins Monday night in a winner's bracket contest in the Little League 11-12-year-old District 8 tourney being held at River Bend Park.
The loss sends Elkins into a loser's bracket contest against Tygart Valley at 6 p.m. today.
Tygart Valley stayed alive with a 16-7 win over Belington in Monday's late game.
The winner advances to face Summersville on Wednesday. A second title game will be held on Thursday, if necessary.
Elkins took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth when Brayden Biller scored on a wild pitch.
Summersville answered in the top of the sixth when Braden Johnson cracked a two-run homer to make it 5-4. Wyatt Underwood added an RBI triple and N. Eakle a run-producing single.
Elkins threatened in the bottom of the inning when Owen Stanley drilled a one-out double to left and later scored on error to cut the lead to 7-5, but Owen Neff ended the game with a strikeout with a runner on third.
Elkins took a 1-0 lead in the second when Stanley tripled and later scored.
Summersville picked up three unearned runs in the third to build a 3-1 edge.
In the fourth, Elkins tied the game when Dyer Barger singled and Stanley followed with a homer.
Stanley, who struck out 11 in going the first five innings on the mound, went 3 for 3 with a homer, triple and double.
