Post 29 contest suspended
Elkins holds 2-1 lead in sixth inning against Post 13
NUTTER FORT –Elkins Post 29’s contest against Clarksburg was suspended in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday night at Frank Loria Field due to lightning.
The game will be completed when Post 13 visits Elkins next Wednesday.
Post 29 plated a pair of runs in the sixth inning to lead 2-1.
Gage Bibey led off with a single and scored when Jayden Herron reached on a two-base error.
Another miscue by Clarksburg on a ball hit by Jesiah Matlick moved Burner to third and Austin Bolyard followed with a sacrifice fly to center to plate Herron.
Cody Cooper is the pitcher of record for Post 29. He has allowed just four hits and fanned two in five-plus innings.
Post 13 plated its run off of Cooper in the third when Nate Radcliff hit a lead-off double and scored on Matthew Hutson’s two-out single to right.
Josh Thomaschek pitched the first five innings for the hosts. He allowed just one hit, struck out three and walked three.
Baron Swiger has worked one inning, giving up the two unearned runs and allowing a pair of hits.
Bibey, Herron and Nick Hamrick have accounted for Elkins’ three hits.
Radcliff has a pair of safeties for Clarksburg, including his double in the third.
Post 29 is now scheduled to visit South Charleston Post 94 for a doubleheader on Saturday.
Game 1 is slated to get underway at 3 p.m.
