MILL CREEK -- Luke Bright served as the backup quarterback for Tygarts Valley the past two seasons and now gets his opportunity to direct the offense for the Bulldogs.
Bright played behind his brother, Josh Bright, as a freshman and sophomore. His father, Rodney Bright, is in his fifth season as the Bulldog head coach.
"Luke has played a lot of football for us the past couple of years," Rodney Bright said. "He may not have the running ability Josh had but he's more of a pocket passer and we're looking for him to have a good season for us with our passing game."
The younger Bright and Tygarts Valley got off to a good start in their quest for a third straight Class A playoff berth, claiming a 49-0 win over Valley-Wetzel at home on Friday night.
Bright completed 11 of 18 passes for 135 yards and three scores.
Two of those touchdowns were to Garrett Gibson, who hauled in eight passes for 109 yards on the night.
The Bulldogs will now hit the road on Friday night for a contest against Tucker County at R.H. Armstrong Memorial Field in Parsons.
The Mountain Lions lost a 34-14 decision at Pocahontas County on Friday night to open the season.
