PHILIPPI -- Jesiah Matlick has been a busy athlete during his tenure at Philip Barbour High School.
Matlick has been a starter for the Colts in football the past three seasons and enters his senior season lining up at quarterback again and could also get some snaps at tight end during the 2021 campaign.
Philip Barbour was scheduled to open the season last Friday at Clay County but the game was postponed due to Barbour County Schools being under remote learning.
The Colts and first-year coach Nick Mayle are now scheduled to entertain Buckhannon-Upshur at 7 p.m. Friday at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park.
The Bucs' season opener against Bridgeport was also postponed due to COVID-19 protocol but they were able to play on Friday night, dropping a decision at Ripley in Zach Davis' debut as head coach.
Matlick is also a standout on the Philip Barbour basketball and baseball teams.
He started in the outfield on the Colt baseball squad this season, which advanced to the best-of-three regional finals.
Matlick also played this past summer for the Elkins American Legion Post 29 baseball team.
