EHS boys place second at Tucker invite

Lady Mountain Lions’ Hicks captures first place

PARSONS -- The Elkins High School boys ran to a second-place finish in the Tucker County Invitational held Tuesday at Camp Kidd.

Lucas Anger led the Tiger runners with a runner-up finish in a time of 17:53.15.

Other EHS competitors included Isaac Anger 10th (19:29.15), Tyler Burda 11th (19:40.00), Tyler McKisic 12th (19:49.66), Brandon Rossi 18th (20:17.06), Gavin Brown 25th (21:05.72), Noah Von Leben 27th (21:23.81), Andres Masten 29th (21:26.15) and Hunter Shreve 33rd (22:37.41).

East Fairmont's Drew Moore captured the race in a time of 17:31.84 in leading the Bees to the team title with a score of 22. Elkins (52), Grafton (90), Philip Barbour (94) and Tucker County (107) rounded out the field.

Jacob Davies was the top finisher for the Colts in eighth place (18:48.06) and the Mountain Lions' first finisher was Devin Witemore in 19th place (20:22.38).

Tucker County's Katie Hicks captured the girls race in a time of 20:49.20.

Elkins, which fielded an incomplete team, was led by Samantha Sproul's third-place effort in 21:41.37, while teammate Katie Collins was eighth (23:28.74), Mallory Bennett 13th (24:00.64) and Holly Harper 25th (27:47.16).

East Fairmont took team honors, followed by Tucker County (43) and Grafton (47).

Megan Mitchell was the top runner for the Lady Colts in fifth place in a time of 21:58.30, while the Lady Mountain Lions also got a top five finish from Erin Chambers in fourth (21:56.11).

Elkins will compete in the Big 10 Conference Championships slated for Thursday at Philip Barbour High School.

The Tigers will then host the Class AA-A Region II meet Oct. 21 over the Davis & Elkins College course.
